SooSAFE

Children and babies have larger pupils than adults. This means that their highly sensitive retinal cells are more exposed to UV light. Similar to sunburn on the skin, the tissue and cells of the human eye can be seriously damaged by UV light. In addition, children usually spend more time outdoors and are therefore exposed to UV radiation for longer. This makes adequate protection with high-quality sunglasses all the more important.

Perfect protection for your child's eyes!

  • 100% UV-A & UV-B PROTECTION
  • UV 400, CATEGORY 3 LENSES
  • PROTECTIVE SIDE SHIELDS

Ever had a sunburn on your skin? Hurts, right? Well, the same burn actually happens to your eyes when you're in the sun. UV rays hit the eyes and can cause long-term damage to the retina. Children's eyes are even more sensitive to UV rays. Their large pupils absorb 65% more sunlight than adult eyes. Additionally, children tend to spend more time outdoors than adults. To avoid long-term damage to children's eyes, it's important to protect them from UV rays.

In general, sunglasses lenses are divided into four categories:

  • CAT 0 - Very limited sun protection
  • CAT 1 - Limited protection against sun glare
  • CAT 2 - Good protection against sunlight
  • CAT 3 - HIGH PROTECTION AGAINST SUN GLARE
  • CAT 4 - Very high protection against extreme sunlight
(e.g. on the high seas, in high alpine terrain or in the desert)

Category 3 lenses are ideal for children's eyes. Since they only let through 8-18% of light, they prevent UV rays from reaching your child's eye.

SooCHILDPROOF

  • LIGHTWEIGHT & FLEXIBLE MATERIAL
  • SCRATCH-RESISTANT GLASSES

Our sunglasses are made from recycled nylon (ECONYL®). Apart from the fact that the material is made from plastic waste, nylon has two other major advantages: it is light and flexible. While other plastics are stiff, ECONYL® can be bent to a certain extent, is light and robust and is very comfortable to wear. Properties that help ensure that your child enjoys wearing our sunnies for as long as possible. Our lenses are made from particularly scratch-resistant polycarbonate and are therefore less susceptible to scratches. If you still need to replace the lenses, you can easily reorder them from our shop.

SooRECYCLED

Since it is our generation's responsibility to make the world a better place for our children, when we founded SooNice Sunnies we had one basic premise: we didn't want to put new plastic into circulation. After extensive research, we found ECONYL®, regenerated nylon, to be the perfect material for our sunglasses. Firstly, it is 100% derived from nylon waste and secondly, it comes from Italy, just a few kilometers from our production partners.

Best of all, ECONYL® can be regenerated indefinitely, so if your child outgrows their sunglasses, feel free to send them back to us as we can use them as a resource for future sunglasses. A fully circular product that adds no waste to our planet. Learn more about ECONYL® here .

  • SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL
  • RECYCLED NYLON (ECONYL®)
  • BPA-FREE

The ECONYL® regeneration system starts with rescuing waste such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpeting and industrial plastics around the world. This waste is then sorted and cleaned to recover as much nylon as possible. Through a radical regeneration and cleaning process, the nylon waste is returned to its original purity. This means that regenerated ECONYL® nylon is exactly the same as virgin nylon.Regenerated ECONYL® nylon is processed into yarns and polymers for the fashion and textile industries. The great thing about it? It can be recycled endlessly without ever losing quality. We firmly believe that circular design is the future. Using ECONYL® for our frames is our first step on this journey.

  • DEVELOPED IN AUSTRIA
  • MADE IN ITALY

As a supplier of products specifically for children, it was important to us from the outset to produce in a resource-saving and responsible manner. In our opinion, this also includes the choice of production location and partner. Fortunately, we were able to convince a renowned producer in Italy of our idea, who also has the necessary know-how in processing ECONYL® and many years of experience in manufacturing sunglasses. This means that transport routes can be kept short and unnecessary CO2 emissions can be avoided.
