Sunglasses for children:
How do I know which sunglasses provide adequate protection?
The first blog post was about harmful UV radiation and what it can do to children's eyes. Our conclusion: Sunglasses are a must-have for everyday life with children.
But how do you know which sunglasses really provide good enough protection?
We summarize the most important features for you here:
UV protection
The first point of criticism when looking for new sunglasses is UV protection. You should look for the designation UV400 and the CE mark, as this means that the glasses meet EU safety requirements. However, UV radiation does not only reach the eyes from the front, but also from the sides. This happens primarily through the reflection of radiation from sand, water and snow.
Numerous opticians and the Association for Consumer Information agree: Although there are some children's sunglasses with plastic lenses that do not let UV radiation through, they do not protect children's eyes sufficiently from lateral sunlight.
Additional protection from lateral sunlight is therefore a must when choosing the right sunglasses!

material and origin
Everything has now been said about the comprehensive protection provided by sunglasses. But what are sunglasses actually made of? And where are they produced? The question here is whether I want to put sunglasses made of plastic made in China on my child. Or would I rather have sunglasses made in Europe from recycled nylon.
The answer to this question may vary from person to person, but we are all aware that treating our environment properly will help our children have a better and more beautiful future.

durability and weight
Before buying, you should ask yourself whether the glasses can withstand everyday use with a child. There is nothing more annoying than if the sunglasses break a few days after you buy them. A flexible model with click temples allows the glasses to last longer. But the material should not only be able to withstand a lot, it should also be light. After all, what is the point of having perfectly protective sunglasses for your children if they feel uncomfortable and heavy when they are worn?If all of these criteria are met, it is of course an additional point if the sunglasses also suit the taste of children and parents!
After this blog post, you are now armed with all the necessary information to find the perfect sunglasses.
A little tip from me to make your search easier:
Our SooNice Sunnies of course meet all these criteria ;)
